Snow and ice couldn’t stop us from getting to this morning to deliver Valentine’s bouquets (and grab some bottled cocktails to go).

Flowers are SOLD OUT, but if you pre-ordered, they’re wrapped up snug and ready for you to pick up!

Travel safe out there, bb’s. We’re going home to chill in the hot tub!

Special thanks to Mr. Hired Thumb for chauffeuring me around in the snow today. He’s a gem- the best Valentine I could ask for. 💗

Been a wild couple days outside. Glad I hit the market before the snowstorms started. These babies have been keeping cold in the garage. Time for them to wake on up!

Can’t think of a better way to honor the patron saint of beekeeping than with an armful of flowers.

I’ll have a limited number of hand-tied bouquets and vased arrangements available for pickup at Montelupo Italian Market on 2/14.

Both the bouquet and the arrangement will feature a carefully-considered selection of my favorite springtime flowers. Guaranteed to bring joy.

Visit to reserve yours now.🐝💐

Hot damn. Just so many gorgeous varieties of hellebore to choose from.

It’s one of my favorite flowers- nodding up from the soggy ground during the most dismal part of winter.

New studio is getting closer to finished every day! Til then, here’s one of two little springtime arrangements I made last night at the kitchen table.

I’ll have a handful of cherry hand-tied bouquets available for Valentine’s Day - stay tuned for info on how to order. ✨

Hello, Earthlings. My name is Lydia and I’m the plant nerd behind Hired Thumb. I grew up in the Sonoran Desert, where Saguaro cacti were as plentiful as Douglas Fir are here. I moved to Portland in 2004 and was immediately taken by the change in natural scenery. I’ve been obsessively learning about plants (and anything remotely related to them) ever since.

Some of my favorite plant-related subjects include indoor/outdoor gardening, making plant medicine, foraging, perfumery, floriography, cannabis, landscape design, plant-based spirits, orchids, mycology, cacti, and floral design.

Anyway, thanks for following! I’m looking forward to getting to know y’all better, and am excited to chat with y’all about these (and other) plant-related topics.

What plant topics are you into lately?

What plant books are on your nightstand?

What plant podcasts are you listening to?

Feel free to share in the comments. 🍋🌵🌼🌲
