Fireworks are a funny thing. Tiny, scheduled explosions that entertain us but were originally to pay tribute 🫡 to the fact that we overcame tyranny 👑 and freedom 🦅 is worth celebrating.
America 🇺🇸 has never been an easy story. It’s loud. Obnoxious. Contradictory. Brilliant one minute, exhausting the next. It promises more than it delivers, and stumbles over its own ideals.
But, she always finds her way to get back up, and shine as a beacon🏮of freedom and hope for the rest of the world to follow.
Patriotism isn’t pretending we’re flawless. It’s about refusing to surrender the hope that we, America, can be better than we who were then, who we are today and who we’ll be tomorrow.
Loving America has never meant believing that America is perfect. She’s far from perfect, just like each one of us and there’s beauty in that.
Yet, while flawed and imperfect, still believing that tomorrow can redeem yesterday, still betting that ordinary people will show up for one another 💪 and believe 🙏 in each other, that’s loving America to me.
