I think sometimes we’re conditioned to believe success is all about the daily grind - sell more, close more, chase more, do more.

And yes, hard work matters. Showing up matters. Consistency matters.

But one of the biggest things I’ve learned is that sometimes the best way to grow isn’t to focus on getting more. It’s to give more.

Last month, I was incredibly grateful to be recognized at BNI for $105,000 in business given through referrals.

It’s a number I’m proud of, but what means the most to me isn’t the dollar amount…it’s what’s behind it.

It’s taking the time to really get to know people and their businesses. It’s listening when someone shares a need and remembering the person who might be able to help. It’s making an introduction, sending a referral, or opening a door without expecting anything in return. And while that may sound simple, it takes work.

It takes consistently showing up. Building trust over time. Learning what people do, who they serve, and how you can genuinely support them. And then taking time to go out of your way to make the referral.

There’s something pretty special about finding out that an introduction you made turned into real business for someone else. Knowing that, in some small way, you helped another person or business move forward is incredibly rewarding.

BNI says, “Givers Gain,” and the longer I’m in business, the more I understand just how true that can be.

Relationships matter. Referrals matter. Showing up for people matters.

And I’ve found that when you spend more time asking, “How can I help?” instead of “What can I get?” - good things have a way of finding their way back to you.

So I’ll keep working hard, keep showing up, keep connecting people, and most importantly… keep giving.

This weekend, someone walked up to me, gave me a high five, and said… “Be Ultra.”

He told me he has followed my journey from the beginning—watching me start Ultra Commercial Realty, come up with the name, and build the business.

The funny thing is… wasn’t some carefully crafted marketing campaign. It truly happened by accident. But somewhere along the way, it became so much more than a hashtag.

To me, being Ultra means showing up when no one is watching. Giving more than people expect. Building relationships before business. Celebrating other people’s wins as much as your own. Taking risks. Staying grateful. Choosing to pour into your community even when no one is keeping score.

That’s why Country Jam USA has become one of my favorite weekends of the year. People see three days of concerts.
I see three days of celebrating clients, friendships, partnerships, and a community I’m incredibly proud to be part of. It’s a chance to give back, reconnect, laugh with people I haven’t seen in months, and watch thousands of people create memories together.

His simple high five made me stop and realize how much can change in two years when you keep betting on yourself, keep working, and keep believing in a vision that only you can see.

Over the next few years you’ll be seeing a lot more Ultra around the Country Jam grounds, and I’m incredibly excited to play a role in helping shape what’s next out there.
