Virginia Woolf once wrote that a woman needs “a room of one’s own.”
Nearly a century later, many women are taking that idea one step further - creating a home of their own.
Across the country, single women continue to outpace single men in homeownership, quietly reshaping what financial independence can look like. It’s not simply a trend; it reflects a broader shift toward stability, autonomy, and long-term investment in one’s future.
Owning a home creates something meaningful: a place where decisions, routines, and possibilities are entirely your own.
Here on Martha’s Vineyard, I have the privilege of working with many thoughtful, determined women who are building that kind of foundation for themselves.
To the women creating their own space in the world - today feels like a good day to celebrate that.
