Most of my work happens in the Twin Cities: Edina, Minneapolis, St. Paul and all the suburbs around them but every once in a while real estate takes me somewhere that reminds me how many incredible places we have just outside the metro too. If you’ve never spent a day in the Shafer, Franconia, or Taylors Falls area, it’s absolutely worth the drive.

Start at Franconia Sculpture Park , a 43-acre outdoor museum in the scenic St. Croix River Valley. It’s one of the most unique art experiences in Minnesota. Giant contemporary sculptures, artists creating new installations on site, and wide-open fields where you can wander, explore, and interact with the art. The grounds are open 365 days a year from 8AM – 8PM.

Next, you can:
🚣 Canoe or kayak the St. Croix River from Taylors Falls to Osceola via Taylors Falls Scenic Boat Tours & Taylors Falls Canoe & Kayak Rental. Schedule ahead of time for discounted rates. This takes about 2-3 hours or you can hike one of the beautiful Interstate State Parks trailheads along the river bluffs!
🍷 Stop for a glass of wine at Rustic Roots in Scandia (It’s comparable to Napa Valley!), Dancing Dragonfly Winery or Deer Lake Winery in Taylor’s Falls, or Winehaven Winery and Vineyard in Chisago City.
