Today, we’re proud to share an important milestone 💙
Edwards Abstract and Title Co. has acquired Rio Grande Valley Abstract, uniting two longstanding South Texas title companies with deep roots, decades of experience, and trusted relationships throughout Cameron County.
In 1948, Valley Abstract Company was operating under the ownership of local attorney M.L. Dew. Margaret Joan White joined the company in 1972, beginning a connection that would span decades. In 1987, she purchased the company from the Dew family and went on to become one of the first women to own a title company in Texas. A trailblazer in the industry, Joan expanded the company’s presence throughout the Rio Grande Valley and became a
respected leader in her field.
That legacy continued through her daughter, Jacqui Dempsey, who has served as President since 2018 and became an owner in 2025. We’re honored to welcome Jacqui to Edwards Abstract and Title Co. as Executive Vice President of Cameron County.
The acquisition brings together two experienced teams with deep relationships across South Texas. It creates an opportunity to connect our people, bring customers and industry partners together, and build on the knowledge and experience both teams bring to the newly combined organization.
We’re excited to welcome the Rio Grande Valley Abstract team and look forward to what we can build together as we continue serving customers and industry partners throughout Cameron County and across South Texas.
