Edmond Mobile Meals is on a mission to provide nourishing meals to elderly and disabled persons who are unable to prepare meals for themselves. The meals and daily contact by caring volunteers allow frail, homebound persons to remain independent and in their own homes. 🏡❤️

Here in Edmond, caring for one another is simply what we do. That same spirit is needed for our older neighbors, who deserve to age with dignity, nourishment, safety, and connection.

Although Americans gave an estimated $617 billion to charity in 2025, senior-focused causes received only 1% of that generosity. Many assume programs such as Social Security and Medicare meet every need, but significant gaps remain in nutritious meals, transportation, safe housing, and social connection.

Local organizations help fill those gaps, giving seniors the support they need to remain independent and feel valued. These services are not extras; they can mean the difference between loneliness and belonging, vulnerability and stability.

Supporting seniors is a beautiful way to honor those who raised us, taught us, mentored us, and helped build the community we love. It sends a powerful message to every older neighbor: You are not forgotten. You are deeply valued. And your life still matters.

When we invest in seniors, we help create the kind of community we all hope to grow old in—one where everyone is cared for and no neighbor is left behind.

September is Hunger Action Month!

In Oklahoma alone 17% of the population are currently facing food insecurity.

Let’s turn awareness into action for neighbors facing food insecurity right here in Edmond.

Hunger can affect families, students, and especially older adults living on fixed incomes, who may have to choose between groceries, medication, utilities, or transportation.

This month, let’s show up for one another:
• DONATE
• VOLUNTEER with local food programs
• CHECK IN on a senior neighbor
• SUPPORT meal delivery for elderly or disabled residents
• SHARE Edmond food assistance resources with anyone who may need them.

Local options include HOPE Center of Edmond, Project 66 Food & Resource Center, Breakfast on Boulevard, Samaritan House, Edmond Mobile Meals, the Edmond Senior Center meal program, and the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

Every gift, every hour, every shared resource helps build a stronger, more caring community!

Calling Edmond’s next generation of leaders!

Applications are now open for the 2026–2027 Edmond Mobile Meals Teen Leadership Council!

Designed for local high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, this six-session leadership program gives students the opportunity to build leadership skills, serve their community, and make a real impact in the lives of Edmond seniors.

Throughout the program, students will:

⭐ Discover their personal leadership style
🤝 Learn how collaboration, adaptability, and compassion shape strong leaders
💡 Connect with community leaders and learn how local nonprofits work together
📣 Create a Giving Tuesday campaign to raise awareness about issues facing seniors
🎁 Assemble holiday gifts and shelf-stable food boxes for homebound seniors
❤️ Help Edmond Mobile Meals address senior hunger and social isolation

Students also receive:
• Hands-on nonprofit and community service experience
• Opportunities to meet other service-minded student leaders
• Volunteer hours that may be applied toward NHS requirements
• A college recommendation letter upon successful completion of the program

📅 September 2026–March 2027
🎓 Who can apply: Sophomores, juniors & seniors attending local public, private, or home-based schools
⏰ Application deadline: September 11 at 5 p.m.
📞 Finalists will participate in a short phone interview the week of September 14
🎉 Selected students will be notified by September 21
📍 First meeting: Wednesday, September 23 at 4:30 p.m.

Fourteen years ago today, something truly special happened at Edmond Mobile Meals… Toni Washington walked through our doors.

Since that day, Toni has led the preparation of 871,219 meals that have nourished homebound seniors throughout Edmond. Behind every meal is her unwavering commitment to quality, nutrition, and the belief that every person deserves food prepared with care and dignity.

Toni has transformed our kitchen into so much more than a place where meals are made. Through her creativity and expertise, she has elevated our menus to be both nutritious and delicious. Through her kindness, humor, and genuine spirit, she has created a place where volunteers love to serve and friendships naturally grow.

If you've ever spent time in our kitchen, you know that Toni's laughter is contagious, her standards are high, and her heart is even bigger.

Toni, thank you for 14 incredible years of leadership, compassion, and service. Edmond Mobile Meals is a better organization because of you, and we are so grateful to celebrate this milestone with you.
