A WIN FOR OKLAHOMA! Here's some good news about our property taxes! There will be a question on your ballot in August for the people to make the decision if you would like to lower the cap of how much a county may increase your property assessed value. Currently, Oklahoma law says that a county cannot increase your property assessed value more than 3% if it's a homestead and 5% if its not a homestead. Assessed value increases are capped.
However, last month the Legislature passed a joint resolution with the Senate that will put a State Question on your ballot that will ask you if you would like to reduce those caps to 1.75% on homestead property and 4% on non homestead property!
