Selling your home during the colder months and need to spruce up your garden? While many annuals and perennials are dormant throughout the winter in Oklahoma, you still have options! These cold-weather plants thrive – some even bloom! – this time of year:
* Hellebores (Lenten Roses) are evergreen perennials that not only flower but provide bold pops of color in the garden. Plus, they are among the easiest to grow in our plant hardiness zone.
* Yuletide Camellias produce beautiful, medium-sized red blooms with yellow centers in the winter months. Another plus? They smell incredible.
* A variety of small evergreen trees can be potted in decorative planters on the front porch or stairs.
* Winter flowers, like pansies, snowdrops, and forsythia bushes, will start to bloom in February or March if you can hold out. Check your local nursery for updates!
