Have you ever wondered what financial freedom means? We hear the phrase tossed around a lot, particularly in commercial real estate investing. Simply put, it's when the income generated by your investments exceeds your lifestyle expenses. This means that your investments can cover your lifestyle with minimal or no effort required on your part.
So, what's the formula for achieving financial freedom? It's quite simple: one part of personal financial discipline (yes a budget), a planned investment schedule, cash-flowing assets (such as commercial real estate), time, and compounding interest.
The result of executing this formula is what I call the 5 Freedoms
Financial Freedom: Your passive income can support your desired lifestyle without having to trade your time for money.
Freedom of Choice: You are free to do what you want, with whom you want, where you want, when you want, and how you want.
Freedom of Time: You no longer have to trade your time for money. You can take a month-long vacation and live on an island if you want, and your investments will keep paying no matter where you are.
Freedom of Location: Your investments will continue to pay, regardless of where you live. You can choose to live where you want, or even move seasonally!
Freedom of Impact (my favorite and my “why”): Giving back to others is fulfilling, but it can be challenging when finances are an obstacle. Financial freedom allows you to volunteer at local nonprofits and invest in your friends' needs without sacrificing your time or resources.
