Carrollton Bank’s new downtown Edwardsville building is nearing completion 🏦

The roughly 14,000-square-foot facility sits at 235 S. Buchanan St., at Buchanan and Schwarz. The bank said in June that it should be substantially complete in August, with a move-in shortly after Labor Day.

Carrollton has operated in Edwardsville since 2019 from the Madison Mutual building on Park Street. The Buchanan Street project brings that operation into a purpose-built space of its own

📍 235 S. Buchanan St., at Buchanan and Schwarz
🏢 About 14,000 square feet
🏗️ Three stories per the contractor, 2½ per the bank
🔨 Built by Plocher Construction
💰 $3 million construction permit valuation, approved May 2025
🏦 Retail banking on the first floor
💼 Commercial banking on the second
🌇 Employee and event space on the third, indoor and outdoor
🌇 Views of downtown from the upper level
🚗 Three-lane drive-up already open next door at 245 S. Buchanan
📅 Move-in targeted for shortly after Labor Day

The site has seen a few chapters over the years. It was a Hardee’s, later DaVita Dialysis, and now a banking campus. The lot next door was Annie’s Frozen Custard until 2022 and became the drive-up facility that opened in July 2024.

An official opening date has not been announced. The Park Street branch remains the operating location until the move is complete.

Ten acres, a five-stall masonry horse barn, a riding ring, and a custom ranch that never asks you to compromise 🐎

This Columbia estate was built for the buyer who wants a real equestrian setup without giving up the house that goes with it.

Built in 2018, the main residence runs 4,888 square feet of finished living space across one level plus a fully finished basement, with a main-floor primary suite, coffered ceilings in the dining room, and a kitchen that opens straight into the living room.

Outside is where it separates itself. The full masonry horse barn holds five stalls, a tack room, and a bathroom, with a garage and workshop on the opposite side and a finished entertainment space upstairs.

Add the riding ring, the pasture, and over 10 private acres inside the Columbia School District, and this is a setup that almost never comes up.

The 157 and 162 intersection now looks like it’ll open around Thanksgiving 🚧

The original target was Oct. 31. IDOT says utility delays pushed it back about a month.

Good news is the bridge beams went up on Aug. 17, so the new span over Judy’s Branch is taking shape.

📍 Madison County
🌉 New bridge carrying Illinois 157 over Judy’s Branch
🌉 Second new bridge carrying Illinois 162
🚦 Signalized four-way intersection replacing the offset crossing
🚶 Dedicated bike and pedestrian bridge over the creek
🛣️ Detours on I-55/70, I-255, I-270 and Illinois 159 until it opens
📅 Around Thanksgiving for 157 and the east leg of 162
📅 Summer 2027 for the west leg of 162

If you’re wondering about that 2027 date, here’s the deal. The two legs of 162 don’t line up at 157 right now, which is why you hit two separate stop signs getting through one intersection. Straightening that out means swinging the west leg over to meet the east leg at a single light, and that’s its own rebuild. So the west side stays closed a good while after everything else opens.
