Did you know that vacation homes now make up 2.4% of California’s housing? Nationally, the number of U.S. vacation homes has shifted from 5.47 million in 2018 down to 4.74 million in 2024, representing 3.3% of all housing. Timeshares are seeing impressive occupancy rates, too—79.9%, notably higher than hotels. Florida leads in total vacation homes, but Maine and Vermont have the highest concentration relative to their markets.
