π¨ PUBLIC WARNING: RENTAL SCAM ALERT β PLEASE SHARE! π¨
We have recently become aware of fraudulent TikTok accounts using legitimate real estate listings β including listings represented by KO Realty Group β and falsely advertising these properties as FOR RENT.
These accounts are scammers. These homes are NOT being offered for rent by KO Realty Group.
Unfortunately, rental scams like this can look very convincing. Scammers may copy photos, property descriptions, addresses, and other information directly from legitimate real estate listings. They then advertise the home for rent, pose as the landlord or property manager, and may attempt to collect application fees, security deposits, first monthβs rent, or personal information from unsuspecting victims.
β οΈ PLEASE PROTECT YOURSELF BEFORE SENDING ANY MONEY OR INFORMATION:
β’ Search the property address online. If you see the home listed FOR SALE by a licensed real estate agent but someone else is advertising it for rent, contact the listing brokerage directly to verify it.
β’ Never send a deposit simply to βholdβ a property before confirming who actually owns or manages it.
β’ Be extremely cautious if someone refuses to meet you at the property, says they are out of town, or gives you an excuse for why they cannot show you the inside.
β’ Be suspicious of anyone pressuring you to act immediately or send money through Cash App, Zelle, Venmo, gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency, or other difficult-to-recover payment methods.
β’ Do not provide your Social Security number, banking information, driverβs license, or other sensitive personal information until you have verified who you are dealing with.
β’ Research the property AND the person advertising it. A social media profile and a phone number are not proof that someone owns or manages a home.
π‘ If you see one of our listings advertised for rent and you are unsure whether it is legitimate, PLEASE CONTACT KO REALTY GROUP DIRECTLY.
Do not rely solely on the phone number, email address, or contact information contained in the suspicious rental advertisement. Find our official business information independently and contact us.
We would much rather answer a quick phone call than see someone in our community lose hundreds or thousands of dollars to a scam.
If the deal seems unusually cheap, the person is rushing you to send money, or something simply doesnβt feel right β STOP and verify before paying anything.
Please SHARE THIS POST. Someone you know may currently be searching for a rental, and one warning could prevent them from becoming a victim.
