🏡 Horizon City is growing — and there is a lot happening behind the scenes!
We had the opportunity to welcome the Mayor of Horizon City to our office today, and he shared some interesting insight into the city’s growth, development, infrastructure and long-term vision.
A few of my biggest takeaways:
* Horizon City is working to attract more commercial development, businesses and jobs so residents can live, work and shop closer to home.
* Plans continue for a future downtown Horizon City, including efforts to develop property in the center of town.
* Hunt recently purchased approximately 640 acres that could bring additional residential and commercial development to the area.
* The city is working on plans for a regional park and entertainment space, along with additional recreational opportunities.
* A future government center is being discussed that could potentially include a new Town Hall, library, county services and possibly postal services.
* Transportation and infrastructure remain major priorities, including roadway improvements, future routes and expanded public transportation connections.
* Medical development is also expanding as more healthcare providers and specialists recognize the continued growth on the east side.
* And yes, the Mayor knows we all want HEB, Trader Joe’s, Cheesecake Factory, IKEA and more! He shared that attracting major retailers is part of the conversation, although many factors determine where those companies ultimately choose to locate.
One thing was very clear: Horizon City isn’t trying to stop growth. The goal is to plan for it, manage it and build a community that can support it for decades to come.
As a Realtor who works throughout Horizon City and the Far East El Paso area, conversations like this are incredibly valuable. Understanding what’s coming helps us better educate buyers, sellers and investors about where our community is headed.
