I can absolutely relate to this. Growing up, putting a couch in the center of the room wasn’t a design choice. We didn’t have the room.

The couch went against the wall because that’s where it fit.

There wasn’t some giant open living room with furniture floating in the middle. There wasn’t a fireplace with a TV mounted above it. Heck, growing up, mounting a TV on the wall wasn’t even part of the conversation.

And that’s why stuff like this makes me laugh now.

There are these little signs in life that you don’t even think about until one day you realize your life looks completely different than it used to.

You’ve got enough room that the couch doesn’t have to touch a wall.

You’ve got a fireplace.

You’ve got a TV mounted over it.

None of those things mean you’re rich. But when you grew up without them, they can absolutely feel like one of those quiet little “wow, we really did make it” moments.

Sometimes it’s not the car, the watch, or the big vacation that gets you.

Sometimes it’s just realizing your couch is sitting in the middle of the room.
