Took a break from real estate and open houses this weekend to enjoy the fresh air and gorgeous views of Lake Tahoe. The weather was cooler than we had hoped for, but it turned out to be perfect for riding bikes along the Truckee river on Sunday. It was a great weekend with lots of laughs and too much delicious food. If you’re up in the Truckee or Tahoe City area and looking for tasty bites, I highly recommend Bar of America, Craft & Logic, and Shady’s.

Notes to Self 📝

Last week I said I was going to keep saying yes to things that scare me a little. I did. I said yes to a variety of new activities and connections I never would have tried before. Most of it networking, putting myself out there in rooms full of people I didn’t know, and if you know me, you know that is top tier social anxiety for me.

I also made some bigger, more personal decisions this month. I’m not ready to share yet, but they were about prioritizing myself, and I’m glad I made them.

I learned putting myself out there is genuinely uncomfortable (anxiety is a bitch!). But I’m meeting some amazing people because of it, and that’s made every awkward moment worth it.

This week I’m shifting gears a little. I’ve been so focused on saying yes to everything everyone else says matters that a few things on my own list, both business and personal, have been quietly nagging me in the background. This week is about listening to that voice inside and actually taking care of these things, even if it means saying “not right now” to a few other things for a bit.

These two terms get mixed up constantly. Here’s the real difference. Pre-qualified means a lender has taken a quick look at your finances and giving you a rough estimate. Pre-approved means a lender actually verified your income, credit, and assets, and you have a real number to shop with.

When you’re ready to make an offer, pre-approved is what sellers actually want to see.

That’s exactly the kind of detail I walk every client through early on, so there are no surprises later.
