I wrote these stories for my granddaughters.
What began as bedtime stories and family memories eventually became books that I now get to share with children and families around the world.
If you've read one of my books, would you consider leaving a review? Reviews help other parents, grandparents, teachers, and librarians discover stories they might otherwise never find. They also mean more to authors than you may realize.

Thank you for reading, sharing, reviewing, and supporting my journey as an author. ❤️

People sometimes ask where my stories come from.

The answer isn't a writing class, a publishing conference, or even a lifelong dream of becoming an author.

It started right here.

Two little girls wanted bedtime stories, and they wanted them told "from my mouth." Night after night, we created adventures together. Years later, those stories became books.

I never imagined those quiet moments would grow into something I could share with other families.

Sometimes the biggest journeys begin in the smallest moments. ❤️

People sometimes ask why I write both children's books and stories for adults.

The answer is simple.

My children's books began because two little girls asked me to tell stories "from my mouth." Those bedtime stories eventually became books filled with friendship, kindness, courage, and wonder.

My adult fiction comes from a different place. It grows out of the experiences, losses, joys, and lessons that only life can teach.

Whether I'm writing for a child discovering the world or an adult trying to make sense of it, I'm really writing about the same thing: being human.

Thank you for reading along with me on both journeys. ❤️

What does a successful author-publisher relationship look like?

For me, it looks like seven children's books, fourteen stories, dozens of young illustrators, and now an upcoming novella.

It started with one manuscript and a conversation in a Facebook group. Today, whatever I write, Purple Works Press publishes.

I couldn't ask for a better creative partnership. Visit their website today and see what they can do for you!

When I first wrote Oscar the Octopus, I wasn't really thinking about teaching lessons. I was simply telling a story.

But over time, I realized Oscar's journey is one many of us take. He spends so much time looking for love and acceptance in the wrong places that he almost misses what truly matters. Sometimes the people who are right for us aren't the ones who look the most impressive. They're the ones who see us, value us, and care for us exactly as we are.

Oscar remains one of my favorite characters because his story reminds me that kindness, character, and self-worth matter far more than appearances.

I hope you enjoy learning a little more about Oscar—and about the talented young artist, Jill Kilburn, who helped bring his underwater world to life.

When I wrote Cameron the Caterpillar, I wasn’t really thinking about caterpillars at all. I was thinking about how easy it is to look at someone else’s life and imagine it must be better than our own.

Cameron’s friends spend so much time wishing they were dogs, cats, and horses that they miss the good things right in front of them. Cameron doesn’t. He’s content being exactly who he is. And in the end, he discovers that sometimes the things we’re searching for are the very things we already have.

It’s a simple story, but one that has stayed with me. In a world that often tells us to be more, do more, and become something different, Cameron reminds us that there is value in growing at our own pace and appreciating who we are.

Today I’m sharing a little about Cameron, the second story in my flip-book series with Oscar the Octopus, beautifully illustrated by Amaya Rullán-Chiti.

When my granddaughters asked me to stop reading books and start telling stories “from my mouth,” I never imagined those bedtime tales would one day become published books.

Pepé the Coconut Palm was the second story I told them.

Pepé loves music. He loves to dance. And he brings so much joy to the people around him that an entire town rallies to save him when his exuberance gets him into a little trouble. What I love most about Pepé is that he's a reminder that our quirks, talents, and passions are often the very things that make us special.

This story also holds a special place in my heart because it introduced readers to the work of a talented young illustrator, Stephanie Roccuzzo. At just 12 years old, Stephanie brought Pepé’s world to life with warmth, color, and personality. Watching a young artist's imagination meet a story that began as a bedtime tale was one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.

More than a story about a dancing palm tree, Pepé is a story about community, creativity, and the joy that comes from being exactly who you are.

When people ask me which of my stories is my favorite, I usually tell them that's like asking me to choose a favorite child.

But Daisy the Daisy will always hold a special place in my heart.

When I first began telling these stories to my granddaughters, I wasn't an author. I was working in real estate and making up bedtime stories because two little girls asked me to "tell a story from your mouth."

Daisy's dream was simple. She wanted to be part of a beautiful bouquet. She believed that was her purpose.

But life had other plans.

What I love most about Daisy is that she discovers something many of us learn eventually: sometimes what we think we want isn't the whole story. Sometimes our greatest impact comes in ways we never expected.

Years later, when it came time to publish the story, a talented young artist named Quinn Kilburn brought Daisy's world to life. Quinn was only ten years old when she illustrated the book and her drawings captured the sweetness and innocence I imagined when I first told the story.

Together, Daisy the Daisy went on to earn recognition as a semi-finalist by the Florida Writer's Conference, something neither Daisy nor I could have imagined when the story began as a bedtime tale.

That's the funny thing about stories. All of my books are available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Walmart, Powells, Indigo and many other stores.

Just like flowers, they sometimes bloom in unexpected places.
