I have seen a lot of conversation about Amendment 3, so I wanted to break down what it would actually mean for Florida homeowners and our local communities.

A YES vote would increase the homestead exemption for property taxes other than school taxes.

A NO vote would keep the current exemption structure in place.

Here is a real Manatee County home example:

2026 tax bill: $6,862
Estimated 2028 tax bill: $5,474
Estimated savings: $1,388 per year
That comes out to about $116 per month

The property tax bill would not disappear. School taxes, CDD assessments, fire assessments, and other applicable charges would still remain.

There is also the community side to consider. Local governments would collect less property tax revenue, which means counties and cities would have to decide how to adjust their budgets.

I am not telling anyone how to vote. I just want people in our community to understand what could change before making that decision.
