Back in 2024, I represented the seller when Mike and Trudy purchased a 10-acre hunting tract in rural Saluda County. From the moment they closed, it was off to the races.

To me, it's the closing of the first chapter. The conversations have been had, the paperwork is signed, the photos are taken, the marketing is ready. It's the moment where months—or sometimes years—of preparation finally become real.

The funny thing is, that's also the moment the real work begins.

But every now and then, there's an exception.

This is Mr. Bobby.

Last week, I had the privilege of listing the country home where he and his wife, Claire, built their life together. They raised ten children here while operating a successful deer processing business. This isn't just a house—it's a place where birthdays were celebrated, meals were shared, and memories were made that can't be measured in square feet or acreage.

When I walk through homes like this, I always notice the little things. Pencil marks on the door frame. Family pictures on the shelves. Those are the things that remind me that every property has a story long before it ever has a listing price.

Mr. Bobby is ready for a new chapter. He's retiring and hopes to find a piece of land where he can build a family compound for the generations coming behind him.

Starting over has a way of exposing every insecurity and forcing you to decide how badly you want the life you're working toward.

There weren't any shortcuts. No overnight success stories. Just a lot of early mornings, late nights, long drives, lessons learned, and one foot in front of the other.

Some days felt like progress. Some days felt like survival.

But the direction was always forward.

Looking back, I'm grateful I didn't listen to the doubts—mine or anyone else's.

Not because of the contracts, the sales, or the milestones, but because I proved to myself that growth usually happens long before you can see the results.

Keep showing up. Keep doing the work. Trust the process.

Amazing things can happen when you give yourself enough time to become who you're capable of being.
