The county broke ground on the Western Carteret County Boat Launch Facility in February. The facility is designed to provide safe, reliable access to area waterways while supporting recreation, tourism, and the local economy.
Carteret County secured $3.5 million in state funding in late 2021 for land acquisition and development for the project. Plans call for the construction of enhanced launch lanes, parking, and habitat restoration, allowing for better water access while protecting the Bogue Sound ecosystem.
