This space already has so much built-in storage and personality, but before choosing its final purpose, I want to pay attention to how we actually live in the house. Sometimes the best design decision comes after you’ve had time to notice the light, the traffic flow, and what your daily routine really needs.

A little of our weekend at the Highland Jazz & Blues Festival! 🎶

Starting over in a new state has reminded me that growth often means becoming a student again.

I’m a Texas Realtor® with JPAR, and I’m currently working through the steps toward earning my Louisiana real estate license. There are new rules to learn, new systems to understand, and a new community I want to serve well when the time is right.

I’m excited about where this journey is headed, but I’m also appreciating this season of learning and preparation.

I’m making room on my Shreveport to-do list for something besides house projects: getting to know the community.

A house gives us a place to land, but the people, familiar faces, and little traditions are what I’m looking forward to discovering as we make Shreveport home. I’d love to learn what longtime locals look forward to—not just the must-see places, but the everyday things that make this area feel like theirs.

This kitchen may be one of our biggest design conversations yet. 🤎

The original wood cabinetry and long horizontal lines give it so much mid-century character. As we plan future updates, I keep coming back to the same question: how do we improve the function without removing the details that make the house special?

My instinct is to preserve the wood, work with the architecture, and let any new finishes complement what is already here.

Would you keep the bold yellow accent, choose a different color, or go neutral?
