How's The Market?

1628 Bahia Vista Way in La Jolla Palisades single level ranch style fixer listed and sold in 4 days with multiple offers and over asking price. The new pwners have exciting plans for it so I'll look forward to driving by this time next year and see how it's looking.

Fasten your seat belts.

Rates have been dropping. Based on the data I'm hearing and reading we are entering a deflation mode which is potentially worse than inflation.

Why? Stock markets take a nose dive during deflation. If deflation hits the Fed will likely start cutting rates and when (if) that happens bond markets will rally which will cause mortgage interest rates to drop even further.

Deflation means the cost of goods and services drops and the dollar strengthens. People can buy more with the same amount of money. Sweeeet! That said, home prices usually fall if deflation is strong. This is where the investors start turning out and snapping up homes - homes they can sit on as rentals while they wait for rising prices.

Rents MAY drop somewhat in some regions which could buffer the demand for real estate ...to a degree, depending on your market. San Diego is considered quite strong so good likelihood we won't see much change from the high demand and low inventory hamster wheel we've been running on.
