Just put together an “about us” for bluebell’s new website coming soon !!!!! and thought I would share
When life threw our family a curveball, we headed for the coast. We’ve always loved breezy days on the beach, so we took a deep breath and put our savings into a little seaside bolthole we could call home; somewhere our kids would love too.
We stumbled on a house for sale on iconic Henrietta Street, just by the 199 steps and within sniffing distance of Fortune’s Kippers. Tucked at the foot of the cliff, Bluebell had seen better days ; damp, tired, and a bit unloved. We took her back to brick, fixed the bones, and then came the fun part: layering in seaside charm with foraged finds, preloved pieces, and art by local creatives.
Now she’s got that relaxed, loved-up vibe that just feels right. It’s our home, and honestly, it’s been life changing.
The second we walk through the door, the stress slips away, and that’s exactly what we want for our guests. This is the feeling we hoped Bluebell would give, and the lovely words people share tell us she does:
“Our first visit to Whitby certainly didn’t disappoint. You have a beautiful home, very thoughtfully decorated throughout, and we all felt very cosy here. Thank you for a wonderful stay, the softest bed linen, perfectly fragranced diffusers, and books by the bed were a lovely touch and a calming read.” Gemma, Harrie & Winnie
“Bluebell, we love you. Everything about you is so homely and you always smell amazing. Whitby is our happy place, but Bluebell makes it more special. Back in March and it can’t come quickly enough! We already miss you, Bluebell.” — Sophie and Emma Bedford.
“You can tell a lot of love has gone into creating this perfect space. We had such a great time and cannot wait to return. Thank you for sharing.” — Claire, Matt, Katherine, Henry and Luke”.
If you’re after a place that feels like a deep exhale, soft beds, salty breezes, a hint of sea air and home comforts, come stay. We can’t wait to welcome you to Bluebell.
