Just leaving this right here, two thoughts, both are worth a pause!
Being “done” doesn’t always mean walking away. It doesn’t have to mean that you’ve given up.
It can also mean simply being done believing you can handle everything, done allowing your circumstances to define you, done trusting the wrong people, done apologizing for your feelings, done being treated like an afterthought, done explaining why you follow God and love your church, done being hurt by the words of others, or done giving up on yourself because life is little hard right now.
“Done” can be a very emotional word and a scary one too – here is where the second one comes into play – because being DONE with certain things takes courage. A few weeks ago, I wrote in my journal about the word courage… not going to share that right now, but this quote pretty much sums it up.
“True Courage is being scared and doing it anyway”
Courage doesn’t always look like jumping out of an airplane, getting back on a horse after you’ve fallen off, climbing a mountain, or swimming with sharks.
Courage as defined by Merriam-Webster: mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty.
That airplane you think that takes courage to jump out of, can simply be a leap of faith in a different direction, that metaphorical horse can be a slight failure that you need to push though, that mountain doesn’t always require climbing gear, and that ocean full of sharks you’re swimming with can be the people that you trusted.
Go ahead and grab your courage and be done with that old version of yourself. Be brave… you’ve got this… even when it’s hard. Lean into what you believe in and don’t explain yourself to anyone. Stop saying NO to yourself and be patient.
