When starting a new career path, find people who are growing their business the way YOU want to and learn everything you can from them. Not all businesses grow the same way. Don't waste time growing with someone else's business plan, but figure out how you want to build and I promise there are people doing that way too...but 10 steps ahead of you.

Three years ago I put in my two weeks at my corporate marketing job to pursue real estate full-time. At the time, I left a career with a good salary, amazing maternity benefits, great PTO and wonderful coworkers. However, I knew I had to make a career shift if I wanted to have the work life balance I was looking for with small kids.

Since making the shift, I have learned a lot. I have changed the way I do things and what I prioritize in a day. I have partnered with some incredible realtors who are growing the way I want to, but steps ahead of me. It's been a game changer for my business and made it so much easier to juggle all the things.

If you're contemplating a career change, make the jump. Put a plan together, partner with the right people and put in the work. I promise you'll be amazed at what can happen in a few short years.

Taking a conscious break the last couple months to give myself a maternity leave has been much needed. Maternity leave is an interesting thing in real estate and when you work for yourself. However, I have realized the importance of seasons and giving them the attention they deserve.

Yes, I still got a client under contract the day I had Isabelle (that's a story for another day 😂) and got other clients under contract when she was 3 weeks old. I mean I do work in real estate and when they say "if you need more business, go on vacation...I say "if you need more business, have a baby". But in all seriousness, I took care of my immediate clients, let other agents help me and gave my family/myself the attention we needed.

The last 3 months has given me the chance to recharge and I have gained so much clarity on where I want to take my real estate business. I am excited to jump back in to continue serving my clients, building relationships and growing both personally and professionally.
