From an empty building to a thriving part of downtown Enid.

For six years, the historic Sears building sat vacant with no electricity and an uncertain future. Today, Sears Lofts is once again full of life—providing downtown housing, supporting local businesses, and contributing to the continued revitalization of downtown Enid.

Projects like Sears Lofts are a reminder of just how important the work of the **Oklahoma Historical Society** is. Preserving historic buildings is about much more than saving old brick and architecture. It is about protecting the stories of our communities and finding ways for these buildings to serve future generations.

Instead of demolishing a piece of Enid’s history, we were able to preserve it, restore it, and give it a new purpose.

We’re proud that Sears Lofts is now part of the momentum happening downtown, with residents living just steps from local restaurants, shops, entertainment, and businesses.

Historic preservation and revitalization can go hand in hand—and Sears Lofts is proof of what can happen when an important old building is given another chance.

🎨🎶 **Painted Sky Arts & Music Fest is happening TODAY!!!!!!—Saturday, August 1—in downtown Enid!**

The free festival runs from **12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.** with art vendors, food trucks, a beer garden, children’s activities and live music throughout the day.

**New artwork has arrived at Sears Lofts—and it looks incredible!**

As we restored this historic building, it was important to us that the artwork throughout Sears Lofts preserve and celebrate the history of the building, downtown Enid, and our community.

The foyer is dedicated to **Champlin Oil** and features a historic image from 1927 along with a Champlin Oil sign. The building was originally planned for H. H. Champlin, and during the renovation, I discovered the original hand-drawn plans from the 1920s in the basement.

The main lobby celebrates the history of the Sears building and downtown Enid. One of the featured pieces is an interior photograph of the Sears store dating back to the 1950s. We also included historic images of Enid’s grain elevators to honor our city’s legacy as the **Wheat Capital of the United States**.

The second floor is dedicated to **Vance Air Force Base** and features a striking collection of T-38 aircraft images, recognizing the important role Vance has played in Enid’s history and community.

Sears Lofts is more than a place to live—it is a celebration of the people, industries, and history that helped shape Enid.
