Today, we’re busting real estate myths. 😎 The myth for today is: Pricing my home high will give me room to negotiate.

Do. Not. Do this. Whatever you do! It’s understandably tempting — who doesn’t want to get the most out of their home?

But pricing your home higher than what’s typical for your area puts you at risk of leaving your house on the market for too long. And when your house is on the market for longer than what’s normal in your neighborhood, potential buyers are going to wonder what’s wrong and stay clear of it.

Instead, conduct some competitive research and analysis on what homes are selling for in your town and price it competitively to them. Even better? Hire a real estate agent who can help you through the process. 🙌

New homeowners, listen up: Don’t make the classic first-time homebuyer mistake of not coordinating your utility providers before moving in!

This can be easily overlooked when you have a million other tasks to take care of during the home-buying process, but nothing’s worse when you finally get the keys and you realize you can’t take a shower or turn on the TV. 😂

So before you move in, make sure you get your water 🚰, electricity ⚡, internet 🌐, and gas ⛽ providers in order. (And check with your HOA to see if they have preferred providers, if applicable.)
