Amen…let’s follow suit America!

Canada made history by deciding that whales and dolphins deserve more than a life spent entertaining people.

The country passed a landmark law that bans keeping whales, dolphins, and porpoises in captivity for entertainment. It also bans breeding them in captivity and stops new captures for marine parks and shows.

For decades, animal advocates have said these intelligent, social animals suffer in tanks that can’t match the ocean. In the wild, many whales and dolphins travel long distances each day. In captivity, they face concrete walls and limited space.

The law does not require the release of animals already in captivity. But it makes sure future generations will not be bred or captured for performances and displays.

Supporters call this a major turning point for marine animal welfare. They say whales and dolphins belong in the ocean, not in tanks built for human entertainment.

Luxury living comes at a cost—but that cost varies widely across the U.S., according to new data from Realtor.com.

In New York, a high-end home averages $5.49 million, requiring a minimum annual salary of $1.15 million. Meanwhile, in West Virginia, luxury real estate starts at just $750,000, with an income of $158,000 needed to afford it.

“The price of luxury homes differs significantly across the country,” says Realtor.com senior economic research analyst Hannah Jones. “In states like New York and Hawaii, luxury homes exceed $5 million, while in more affordable states like West Virginia, Iowa, Indiana, and Mississippi, the threshold is under $800,000.”

A large-scale system designed to remove plastic from the ocean has been developed by engineers in the Netherlands, including initiatives like The Ocean Cleanup.

The system is not a “vacuum” in the traditional sense. Instead, it consists of long floating barriers—some hundreds of meters in length—that use ocean currents to passively concentrate plastic into a collection area.

Rather than actively chasing debris, the design allows natural water movement to bring waste to the system, where it can then be gathered and removed. The goal is to reduce plastic pollution while minimizing harm to marine life.

It represents a significant step toward addressing ocean plastic, though it is still one part of a much larger solution that includes reducing waste at the source.
