Eleven EMP Advanced Product employees participated in a Hands-on workshop, “Intro to Electrified Propulsion System Integration,” provided by Michigan Tech’s Advanced Power Systems Research Center April 11-13. This 20-hour workshop utilized the Michigan Tech Mobile lab and several electric and hybrid vehicles. The workshop lessons examined fundamental electrical principles, safety, sub-system operation, energy flow, architecture, systems-level integration, and diagnostics of electrified ground vehicles. The course included traditional direct learning, group discussions, and hands-on experimentation and activities. The workshop was jointly funded by EMP and Upper Peninsula Michigan Works’ Incumbent Worker Training Program (IWT). The IWT program is designed to upgrade, enhance, and broaden the skills of currently employed workers to fill skills gaps which restrict workers and Michigan based companies to ensure competitiveness in new technologies.
