A 30-year mortgage doesn’t mean you’re required to take 30 years to pay it off. It’s simply the repayment schedule your lender provides.

The sooner you reduce the principal balance, the less interest you’ll pay over the life of the loan.

Here are a few strategies homeowners use to pay off their mortgage faster:
