🌀 Hurricane Milton Relief Donation Drive 🌀

Hurricane Milton has left damage in parts of SWFL, and just like during Hurricane Ian two years ago, we’re here to do it again in partnership with Dee's Company to support those affected. Our islands, like Fort Myers Beach, Captiva, Matlacha and Sanibel, suffered tremendous damage during Ian, and they were just starting to rebuild. Now, with Hurricane Helene causing damage earlier and Milton making things even worse, they’ve been hit hard once again.

But it’s not just the islands—tornadoes spawned by Milton have caused destruction in parts of our community, leaving many in need of immediate help. Whether it’s on the islands or inland, we’re determined to bring relief to everyone impacted.

We are also keeping everyone affected by both Hurricane Helene and Milton in our hearts—whether you’re in North Carolina, Georgia, or any other part of Florida, we stand with you. We are all in this together.

Here’s how you can help:
Cleaning Supplies: Trash bags, gloves, masks, bleach, water, brooms, etc.
Gift Cards: Lowe’s, Home Depot, or other stores to help with repairs.
Donations: Non-perishable food, baby supplies, clothes, hygiene products, etc. and blankets are also greatly needed.

Drop-off Location: 📍 3850 Colonial Blvd, Ste. 200, Fort Myers, FL 33966

🕓 Monday - Friday | Drop Off Hours: 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Our community showed its strength after Ian, and now, two years later, we’ll do it again. Let’s come together to help our neighbors, whether they’re on the islands, impacted by tornadoes, or in other states facing their own challenges. We are stronger together.

🌀🚨 Be Prepared for the Unpredictable! 🚨🌀

🌪️ As we've seen with hurricanes Charlie and Ian, Mother Nature can throw us a curveball when it comes to storm paths. That's why it's essential to be ready for anything, just like we're doing with Hurricane Idalia on the horizon. Here's how to stay ahead of the game and keep your loved ones safe:

🛒 Stock Up: Gather perishable food, a non-electric cooking device, and a cooler with ice. You won't regret it!

🛁 Save Water: Fill your bathtub the night before the storm and plug it. This water's a lifesaver for showers, and flushing toilets.

⛽ Fuel Up: Gas up your car and stash an extra gallon in the trunk. You never know when you'll need it.

🔋 Power Essentials: Load up on batteries, flashlights, and charge all devices to 100%.

🏠 Home Prep: Board up windows, use sandbags to redirect flooding, secure outdoor items, and take inventory with photos and videos.

🐶🐱 Pet Care: Bring those fur babies inside, they're family too!

💡Stay Connected: Get walkie-talkies for when cell service goes down. And remember, save 911 for real emergencies.

🧰 Emergency Kit: Pack a first aid kit, medications, and essential supplies like deodorant, sanitizing wipes, and personal care items.

🔌 Power Backup: Invest in a generator, just in case. But set it up at least 20 feet from buildings and away from open windows.

🌊 Flood Safety: Steer clear of floodwaters – they're more dangerous than they look.

🚗 Travel Ready: Have car chargers, travel-size toiletries, and extra clothes handy.

🗑️ Waste Management: Stock up on disposable plates, cups, utensils, and trash bags – keeping things clean even when the power's out.

🔊 Communication: Keep a crank weather radio to stay informed.

🌊 Hydration: Don't forget bottled water! It's a must.

❄️ Ice Trick: Freeze a cup of water with a coin on top. If the power goes out, you'll know how long it's been.

📜 Important Docs: Safeguard important documents in waterproof cases.

👥 Community Spirit: Chat with neighbors and work on a post-storm cleanup plan.

Remember, while we're sharing these tips, you can always check the FEMA website for more detailed information. Let's remember, we can't control the storm, but we can control how prepared we are. Stay safe, stay ready, and let's weather the storm together! 💪

🌀 Tropical Depression #3 formed Monday morning and could potentially develop into Hurricane Bret later this week in the Atlantic. Models are split right now with either it curving north into the Atlantic or heading due west into the central Caribbean. Worth noting that the stronger it gets, it would be more likely to turn north. The eastern Caribbean should be monitoring the progress of this storm. Too early to know where it will ultimately go long term, but trust WINK News to keep you updated.
