What an incredible two days focused on Fair Housing last week.
We kicked off with a powerful panel moderated by our own Molly Mair, Education and Diversity Chair, who has thoughtfully organized these Fair Housing events for the past three years, thank you, Molly, for your leadership and dedication.
We were honored to hear from an outstanding panel of speakers:
✨ Mariah Rocker, Oregon Black Pioneers
✨ Talicia Brown, Black Cultural Initiative
✨ Stuart Warren, City of Eugene
Together, they shared meaningful perspectives on the past, present, and future of fair housing, including Oregon’s history of discrimination, ways we can support our community today, and opportunities to create a more equitable future. We also explored efforts happening at the city level to address affordable housing and future growth.
The following day, we continued the conversation with a walking tour highlighting the stories of Black residents, businesses, and historic places that helped shape Eugene, an impactful reminder that understanding our history helps inform a stronger, more inclusive future.
Thank you to everyone who participated in these important conversations and experiences. Fair Housing is more than a conversation, it’s an ongoing commitment. 💛
