INTERESTING HISTORY:
UPS was founded on August 28, 1907, in Seattle, Washington as a bicycle messenger company by teenager, James E. Casey along with his partner Claude Ryan.
Originally named the American Messenger Company, it started in a basement with a $100 loan, focusing on telegram and parcel deliveries.
The company later became United Parcel Service.
FedEx was founded by the late, Frederick W. Smith who launched the company in 1973. While attending Yale as an undergraduate, he came up with the Overnight Delivery idea, that is used worldwide today.
Smith built FedEx into a global logistics giant, revolutionizing package delivery and commerce. Fred Smith served as FedEx's long time Chairman and CEO until stepping down in 2022 as CEO, sadly he passed away in 2025.
