Remember when mortgage rates were 2–3%? 🏡

Turns out, those weren't normal rates. They were historically LOW rates.

For a little perspective, mortgage rates have been above 10%, and in the early 1980s, they even climbed above 18%.

Does that mean today's rates feel affordable? Not necessarily. Home prices have changed, too, and what really matters is your monthly payment and what works for your financial situation.

Here's what I always tell buyers: Don't put your life on hold waiting for a certain interest rate.

If you can comfortably afford to buy now, there may be opportunities to negotiate on price, repairs, or seller concessions that weren't available when rates were at record lows.

And if rates come down later, refinancing may be an option, although it's never guaranteed.

The right time to buy isn't when someone tells you rates are good. It's when buying makes financial sense for YOU.

But apparently I'm feeling generous today. 😂

If you've lived in Humboldt long enough, you know there are certain things we like to keep to ourselves. Our favorite beach, the best place to find chanterelles, the little shortcuts, and those hidden gems we secretly hope don't get too popular.

As someone who grew up here, I can tell you that some of the best things about Humboldt aren't necessarily the places you'll find on a tourist guide.

So I'm spilling a few local secrets... but don't worry, I'm keeping some to myself. 😉

A little October sunset in Humboldt and a moment of gratitude. 🍂🌅

After more than 10 years in real estate, one thing I’ll never take for granted is the trust people place in me.

Buying or selling a home is a big deal. It’s not just about contracts, negotiations, or getting to the closing table. It’s about new beginnings, big decisions, hard goodbyes, and everything in between.

The fact that someone chooses me to be part of those moments is something I genuinely appreciate.

Sorry, San Francisco. We love you, but Humboldt has you beat. 🌲😉

Our redwoods don’t need a reservation. Parking is right out front. Rush hour lasts about ten minutes. And our beaches come with fog and zero crowds.

And the real tiebreaker: we’re actually Northern California.

Not a bad way to start the workday. 🌲☀️

One of my favorite things about living in Humboldt County is that even the everyday routines can feel pretty special.

The winding roads, towering redwoods, morning fog, and views that never seem to get old. Sometimes I have to remind myself that people travel from all over just to experience what we get to call home.

Haunted mazes at the Scaregrounds, candlelight ghost stories in Ferndale, a Main Street trunk-or-treat, pumpkin patches, and the best spots to take the kids on Halloween day, all in one place.

Fair warning: once you live here, a few things are ruined for you forever. 🌲🌊

1.) Living between the redwoods and the ocean. Everywhere else feels like it’s missing half the view.

2.) Fresh Dungeness crab. Grocery store seafood will never hit the same.

3.) Summers that rarely top 70 on the Coast. Anything over 80 now feels like a personal attack. 😅
