The photo says it all! I got my first dose of the vaccine at the Forest Park mass vaccination site yesterday. It was a long but efficient process, and am I so grateful. 💛

The site itself was a nifty example of adaptive reuse, if only temporarily: A vacant commercial space now hosting ~4,000 people a day as part of the largest vaccine effort this country has ever seen.

Here is the answer to yesterday's post! The bird that built the nest in those photos is pictured here, in the same nest from June 2020. This is a female Ruby-throated hummingbird, right here in our yard in Evanston. Kind of puts a new spin on the concept of the "tiny house", doesn't it? It's all about quality craftsmanship!

Talk about a home built to last! At first glance it doesn't look like much, but this is a very special nest in our yard here in Evanston. We watched it get built! These photos were taken during the most recent snowfall. As you can see, the nest holds fast.

Hint: This nest would fit in the palm of your hand, and the bird that built it is probably visiting flowers in Mexico right now.
