Went for a walk on this crisp Spring-like day and found this chess set on a small trail by the bank of the North Branch River! Too funny. And then went past the NU stadium - so sad. No doubt the place was ooooolllllddddd. Still it’s a very recognizable part of Evanston’s landscape. And, it hosted a few exciting games. I’m sad to see it coming down.

So, going through the local paper today, this appeared. Yes, I was a little surprised, but that’s what the company I work with does.

Looking back over the last 12 years, there has not been one day that I woke up and thought, “Did I make the right decision to join ?” I can categorically say that decision, way back in 2010, was one of the best I’ve made. Each day I get to work with some of the most accomplished agents in the industry, I get to collaborate with absolutley wonderful people like Salena Ann Dralle, Derbhile Fabie and Jessica Ruiz, I can rely on support groups that help us function seamlessly, and my peers … well, they are super smart, knowledgeable and, quite often, fun to be with!

Yup, I LOVE where I work! And that makes me a lucky guy!

Okaaay, another extraordinary EXPO in the books. It was great to see so many friends and peers, and the content was fantastic! And, of course, there was a raffle!

Thank you all who attended, and especially those who put the day together! The speakers were inspiring -
Christine Choi (talking about AI),
Chelsea Peitz (social media),
Chris Singleton (sharing an incredibly inspiring personal story),
Will Guidara (talking about Unreasonable Hospitality! Will made me look really hard at the experiences we create),
Chris Tuff (who shared “Shawshanking” with us), and
Quincy Krosby (who talked about the economy)

It was an extraordinary and really fun day! Oh, and did I mention “raffle”? Of course there was one! Mike and Thad gave away a Vespa!

Great article from the "Evanston RoundTable" about property taxes in Cook County. Please read the article, there is some good info in it.

A few notes:
1. The big hit is coming in the next tax bill.
2. On August 1 (yesterday) an Appeals period opened for your 2017 assessment.
3. And, most important, tomorrow evening, Aug. 3, 6:30 p.m. at the Northwestern University Norris Center, McCormick Auditorium, 1999 Campus Drive, there will be a workshop for appealing your assessments.

Have you heard someone say something and thought, "that sounded pretty smart." Did you then wonder, "Okay, what do I do with that?" In this age of DATA, DATA ENGINEERING, TRACKING DATA, HISTORICAL DATA, DATA GEEKS and the like, we are overloaded with information. Much of it is offered with a benevolent purpose. Occasionally it's not. I'm re-posting an email from Seth Godin in which he notes a few peculiarities of information "offered" to us on a daily basis.

I suggest if we we are going to share insights with someone we consider "How they may use it"; "How will they understand it (better!)" with a just a little more effort on our part.
