4 questions to as a listing agent before you hire them.
#1 “How will you market my home in the first 7 days?”!
A great agent has a true property launch plan. Pro photos, video, social media, MLS, broker outreach, signage, timing.
If their answer is “we’ll put it on the MLS,”
you might want to reconsider.
#2 “What’s your pricing strategy and how did you arrive at it?”
A great agent walks you through specific comps, talks days on market, and explains why they’d price where they price. If they throw out a number without showing the math, that could be a red fl
#3 How will you communicate with me through the process?”
A great agent has a clear cadence. Updates after every showing, weekly check-ins, immediate calls on offers. If they say “I’ll be in touch,” ask them to define “in touch.”
#4 “How do you help me get my home ready to list?”
A great agent has a proven process for preparing a home for the market. They will help you stage the property, identify any minor updates or repairs that could increase its value, and make sure it shows at its absolute best. The right preparation can have a significant impact on both the sale price and the speed of the sale. If an agent isn’t offering guidance on how to prep and stage your home, consider that a red flag.
