Would fresh local honey be a nice closing gift? Check out my beekeeping page!: Indiana Blue Line Honey Co.
Hi everyone! I figured I needed to actually provide an introduction into what this is! My name is Ryan Eagleson, and I’m the owner of Indiana Blue Line Honey. 🐝🍯
This journey started just last year (2025) when my family and I were gifted two honey bee colonies from a friend in Vanderburgh County, Indiana. For years I wanted to keep bees, and now is the time! I’ve dedicated myself to learning as much as possible about honey bees, closely following the teachings of Certified Master Beekeeper David Burns. By applying what I’ve learned, I’ve been able to grow those colonies into strong, healthy hives, and we’re excited to be able to harvest our first honey this year from them!
We’ve recently expanded and established an apiary in Elberfeld, Indiana, where we’ll be managing five additional colonies come mid-April of 2026. It’s been incredibly rewarding to watch this grow from a small start into something bigger.
One thing I want to be clear about: My content isn’t about acting like I have all the answers or teaching beekeeping as an expert. Instead, I want to show you what I’m doing out in the bee yard to help my bees thrive based on what I’ve learned. I enjoy experimenting, trying different approaches, and learning what actually produces the best results for colony health. Some things work, some don’t. However, that’s all part of the process, and I’ll share it honestly along the way.
Beekeeping is more than just producing honey, it’s an experience that’s both fascinating and fulfilling. I love the science behind it from understanding how bees communicate, how they organize their colonies, to how their daily activities all work together in such an efficient system. Every time I step into the apiary, I’m learning something new.
It’s also just plain enjoyable. There’s something peaceful about working with bees, being outdoors, and contributing to something that plays such an important role in our environment. Plus, knowing that you’re helping support pollination and local ecosystems makes it even more meaningful.
I’m excited to continue growing Indiana Blue Line Honey and to share this journey with all of you. Stay tuned for updates, hive progress, and hopefully soon, fresh local honey!
Thanks for following along!
