Aloha Kapilina—

You've saved the date, and now it's finally here! Join us this Saturday, November 22nd, from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Pilikai Bech Park for Kapilina's biggest event of the year—the annual Ho`olaule`a (formerly lū`au). This year's event is a celebration of music and `ukulele. We have a huge lineup of entertainment to include a few surprise guests. Also, food vendors, cultural activities, and more!

The evening kicks off with a performance by our very own `ukulele group of neighbors and friends. We invite you to join in on the fun—whether by bringing your own `ukulele or borrowing ones we'll have available. From 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. we'll get you strumming along. Song sheets will be provided. No experience necessary.

Don't forget about our annual food drive in support of Move For Hunger and the Hawaii Foodbank. From now, through the end of November, we'll be collecting non-perishable food for those families in need this holiday season. Drop-off your donations at the Resident Services Office or better yet, at the Kapilina tent on Saturday. For every pound of food, receive an entry into our raffle drawing for amazing prices. We'll be giving away prizes for those entries submitted on Ho`olaule`a night; similarly, those same entries will go into our bigger pot for prizes to be drawn at the end of the month (November).

Lastly, we kindly ask that, in consideration of limited parking around Pilikai Beach Park, consider cycling or walking. Also, you'll want to bring your own blanket, mat, or chairs to enjoy the festivities on the lawn. This event is free, and we invite members of the public to attend.

There's something for everyone at the Ho`olaule`a. Come and enjoy an evening of entertainment, culture, and community. Mahalo to our partners: Battery Bill's, `Ukulele Project Hawai`i, Four Strings At A Time, and many others.

E komo mai,

Aloha mai kākou—

It is my pleasure to announce the details of one of Kapilina's most highly anticipated events; the Lū`au.

For the first time ever, two days—November 15th and 16th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., on the lawn at Pilikai Beach Park. This annual event is our expression of mahalo for your continued patronage and choosing to live ka pilina (together). This year's lineup of entertainment celebrates the diversity of our island home, showcasing performances that not only represent Hawai`i but of those from across the Pacific; both traditional and contemporary. We invite you to enjoy food and drink by D'lish at the Beach on Friday, with the addition of an eclectic array of cuisines by local vendors on Saturday.

Anticipate increased traffic around Pilikai Beach Park (Iroquois Avenue and Edgewater Drive). Attendees are encouraged to consider alternative means of transportation—i.e., walking, bicycling—as parking will be limited. Please adhere to posted signage and traffic control measures. Likewise, there will be a slight modification to viewing areas on the lawn. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own seating. However, please take note of the areas closest to the stage that will be reserved for ground mats only (e.g., blankets, towels, etc.). Grilling or heat and smoke-producing devices will not be permitted at or near the lawn on both days.

Along with the announcement of the Lū`au, we are delighted to share with you the launch of our newest partnership with Move For Hunger. This national non-profit organization mobilizes transportation networks to deliver surplus food to communities in need. Say you're moving, needing to clear out your pantry, or simply willing to donate to a great cause—our office will gather those items; Move For Hunger, through their network of local moving companies, will pick them up; then transport them to local foodbanks. In our case, the Hawai`i Foodbank. From November 9th to 23rd, help us reach our launch goal of collecting 1,000-pounds of non-perishable food items. A drop-off bin will be located in the Leasing Office and at the Lū`au. For every pound of food donated, receive an entry into the raffle drawing; winners to be announced on November 25th. You must be 18 years of age or older to enter. Prizes include a Koaloha `ukulele, $100 Manuheali`i gift card, four tickets to the Annual Thanksgiving Celebration with Anuhea at the Blue Note Hawai`i, $100 Tiki's Grill & Bar gift card, $100 D'lish at the Beach gift certificate, and a few others.

With thanks in this season of giving,

Disasters are no celebration but we can still enjoy the festivities of National Preparedness Month this Saturday.

IROQUOIS POINT, HI — Kapilina Beach Homes in partnership with the Island Preparedness Group will host the 10th annual West O`ahu Emergency Preparedness Fair on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Kapilina Beach Homes. This event is free, open to the public, and intends to draw West O`ahu residents—providing a venue to interact with local subject matter experts, gaining insight and information of how to prepare for emergencies such as hurricanes, tsunamis, wildfires, etc.

Recent events have proven that being prepared is significantly important. Understanding how hazards will impact our island communities will determine what is essential—knowing who to listen to; what to have ready; when to shelter or evacuate; where to go—these questions and many more can all be answered here. Peruse the resources of over twenty agencies in attendance. From keiki to kupuna, there will be something for everyone.
