Update:
Thank you to friends and family who have supported us during this time. We feel the love and know “carrying each other’s burdens” is being fulfilled!
We are still at Children’s mercy as Easton continues to revive daily IV steroids to calm the inflammation on his optic nerve. The steroids are tough on his little body.
We saw the optometrist today and Easton’s vision has been steadily improving! This is a stark contrast to only seeing dark shadows when admitted. Please keep praying that his vision would continue to be restored. We have heard mixed input on whether they think his vision will return to normal. We just don’t know for sure but are hopeful as we see positive progress.
The doctors say that what Easton has is optic neuritis. We do not know what has caused this but we are still waiting on results from the Mayo Clinic. We are praying that it is an isolated incident rather than a symptom of something more serious neurologically or autoimmune related.
We will have continued outpatient care with ophthalmology and neurology once we can leave the hospital.
Thank you again to everyone’s generosity, prayers, emotional support and tangible support!
