A NEW poem…
IT’S STILL THE FOURTH OF JULY 🇺🇸
by Judi Kipner Wolf
We covered our bikes in red white and blue
For the neighborhood parade…It was the thing to do.
We marched through the streets with our flags held high.
That’s what we did on the Fourth of July.
We said the Pledge of Allegiance every morning at school
And were taught to remember The Golden Rule
We were just little kids then….Back in the day
No politics or parties got in our way
But we grew up and began to see
That clearly not everyone would always agree
We saw wrongs we had to make right
And were sent off to a war we didn’t want to fight
Through it all there was never a doubt
The love of our country is what it was about
The strains of Hendrix at Woodstock that day
Echoed our belief in the USA
We’ve had ups and downs
And decades of strife
Decisions divisions in all walks of life
But that never stopped us, I for one will go on
Till decency triumphs and evil is gone
The love for my country is still deep inside
No one can stop it, as hard as they’ve tried
And no matter how much time goes by
I’m still waving my flag on the Fourth of July
