To help first responders reach emergencies quickly and safely, uses Emergency Vehicle Preemption (EVP)—a system that gives emergency vehicles priority at intersections. 🚨

🚦Every traffic signal and emergency vehicle in the city is equipped with advanced GPS‑based EVP technology that turns lights green for approaching responders, reducing risks and improving response times.

After an emergency vehicle passes, signals take a few minutes to reset, and lights may stay red or green a bit longer. This is normal as the system returns to regular timing. ⏱️

In 2025, the City Fire Department alone responded to 14,040 calls — about 26 a day. With two fire stations, a police station, and units dispatched throughout the city, any intersection may be affected at any time during an emergency response. 🔥

EVP speeds up response times and makes intersections safer for everyone. Fairfax is proud to operate the most modern emergency preempt system in Northern Virginia, helping first responders reach our community quickly and safely. 🚒🚑🚓

The Board had a preliminary conversation this week with Fairfax County Health Department staff regarding the mosquito concerns in the neighborhood. We are actively working on a plan to address these aggressive little blood suckers. 🦟

In the meantime, we found the below resource helpful and encourage residents to take a look at steps you can take around your home to help reduce mosquito breeding areas. Please check your property for any areas of standing water including pots, tarps, toys, clogged gutters, drains, or anything else that may collect water after rain.
