Our next project is an Antique home built in 1837 in the historic district of Southport. We learned from the Town that we’d hit the “tri-fecta” in that it is in the flood plain, tide plain and historic district….all of which add challenges to the renovation of this home. Unfortunately, not much has been done to the home over the years and little is known about it’s history. It’s approximately 1200 square feet and we are proposing adding 370 square feet, restoring the exterior and updating the interior. We’ll have to elevate the house first to comply with FEMA requirements and to ensure the house is safely above the flood level. The good news is that it’s only 2 feet….so, we’ll be able to maintain the field stone foundation and maintain the integrity of the home’s appearance.
