Gulf Shores International Airport Awarded $5 Million Grant for New Commercial Terminal Construction

Gulf Shores International Airport was selected as one out of 144 airports nationwide to receive funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law – Airport Terminal Program. The $5M grant will significantly support the construction of a new commercial terminal, which will provide direct commercial air service to Gulf Shores.

Seafood Festival and MAAAC Car Show return to The Wharf on Saturday, Feb. 24

The 32nd Annual Orange Beach Seafood Festival and MAAAC Car Show will be held at the Wharf on Saturday, February 24th. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the Mystics Mardi Gras group's Jeep Drawdown and music running to 5 p.m. at Marlin Circle.

This year's Seafood Festival will feature a full day of delicious food, 100 arts and crafts booths, music for the whole family to enjoy, a Kids' Zone with activities, and a huge car show - featuring antique, classic and hot rod vehicles all along Main Street. This year, Jeeps will join the show and will be on display on Wharf Parkway on either side of Marlin Circle.

Orange Beach Arbor Day tree giveaway set for Feb. 17

The City of Orange Beach will observe Arbor Day with the annual tree giveaway on Saturday, February 17th from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Trees will be given away in front of the Orange Beach Community Development building at 4101 Orange Beach Blvd.

The potted trees that will be given away will consist of a variety of hardwoods for citizens to plant in their yards. Some of the trees will include Bald Cypress, Live Oak, Nutall Oak, Swamp Chestnut, Green Ash, Summer Red Maple, Hollywood Juniper and Green Giant Juniper.

There will be a limited quantity per resident, which is defined as those who live within the city limits of Orange Beach.

Sign up your Krewe or Organization to ride in Orange Beach’s Mardi Gras parade

The city will hold its 2024 Orange Beach Mardi Gras Parade at 2 p.m. on Fat Tuesday, February 13th.

To participate as a Krewe or Organization in the parade, please complete the application - 2024 City of Orange Beach Mardi Gras Parade Application and Information (PDF) - and return it along with the appropriate entry fee and copy of proof of insurance for each motorized entry by Friday, February 2nd at 5 p.m. to City Hall. Cost: $50 first entry and $25 each additional entry.

SAVE THE DATE: 32nd Annual Orange Beach Seafood Festival and Car Show - Feb. 24, 2024 at The Wharf
The Annual Orange Beach Seafood Festival and Car Show will return to the Wharf on Saturday, February 24th. The 32nd annual event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Register your vehicle for the 32nd Orange Beach Seafood Festival Car Show on the MAAAC website. Over 10 trophies will be awarded - including in the new Jeep Category! The registration fee is $75.

The festival is a major fundraising event for the Makos Academics Arts & Athletics Club (MAAAC), which directly benefits Orange Beach schools. Each year, more than 15,000 people attend.

The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber has announced the return of the area’s Annual E-Cycling & Shred Day. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Gulf State Park Beach Pavilion, located at 22250 East Beach Boulevard in Gulf Shores.
