Not every beautiful view in Orange Beach/ Gulf Shores has to end with checkout day. 🌅✨

Imagine this being your everyday view — morning coffee by the water, sunset boat rides, and nights like this whenever you want them.

If you’ve ever thought about owning a condo or beach house here, I’d love to help you make Orange Beach more than just a vacation spot. 🏝️🏡

🏠 Most homeowners insurance policies already cover the structure of your home at replacement cost. That means if a fire destroys your kitchen, the insurer pays to rebuild it with similar materials at today's prices regardless of how old the cabinets were.

Personal property is different. Your furniture, clothes, electronics, and everything inside the house are often covered at actual cash value by default. That means the insurer deducts for age and wear before paying you.

A 5-year-old couch that cost $1,200 new might pay out $300 under actual cash value. Replacement cost coverage pays what it costs to buy a similar new couch today.

The upgrade to replacement cost on personal property is usually an endorsement you add to your policy. The cost varies, but most people pay a few hundred dollars a year for it. That premium increase is small compared to the payout difference after a major loss.

One detail most people miss: even with replacement cost coverage, many insurers pay the actual cash value first. You then buy the replacement, submit the receipt, and the insurer reimburses the difference. That gap between the first check and the replacement purchase can be significant, so plan for it.

High-value items like jewelry, art, or musical instruments often have sub-limits under standard personal property coverage. If you own anything worth more than a few thousand dollars, ask your agent about scheduled personal property, which is a separate endorsement for specific items.

To check what you have now, pull up your declarations page. Look for "personal property" and whether it says ACV or replacement cost.

United Airlines has officially updated its pet travel policy for 2026, introducing higher fees and more rigid enforcement of cabin requirements. Under the new guidelines, the standard one-way fee for bringing a small dog or cat into the cabin has increased to $150 for domestic routes, with some international destinations now reaching up to $200. This change follows a broader industry trend of rising ancillary costs, catching many seasonal travelers off guard at the check-in counter.

Beyond the price hike, United is doubling down on carrier dimensions and aircraft-specific restrictions. While soft-sided carriers remain the preferred choice for fitting under seats, the airline has issued a "one pet per person" limit on several popular aircraft models, including the Airbus A321neo and Boeing 737 MAX series. Furthermore, the PetSafe cargo program remains suspended for the general public, leaving in-cabin travel as the only option for most passengers.

Travelers are now required to navigate a complex web of CDC import forms and international health certificates that must be completed weeks in advance. With limited pet spots available per flight, the airline is urging passengers to add their animals to reservations during the initial booking process rather than at the airport. As enforcement tightens, pet owners are reporting stricter gate checks regarding the animal's ability to stand and turn around comfortably inside their carriers.
