September 11, 2001, changed our country—and it changed my family forever.
The events of that day led to years of war and service that sent my father, my uncle and many friends overseas. Coming from a long line of first responders, and now serving as one myself, I also carry a deep respect for those who ran toward danger that day and for the families who never welcomed their loved ones home.
For some of us, September 11 isn’t only a moment in history. Its impact reached into our homes, shaped our families and continued for years afterward.
Today, I remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, those who answered the call at home and overseas, and the sacrifices that followed.
We will never forget.
