Okayyy… now we’re getting somewhere! 👀✨

The clean-up crew has officially done their thing ✅
🎨 Painting is underway
🪵 Flooring is going down
🧼 Decks have been fixed AND cleaned up
✨ And the brand-new QUARTZ countertops just got installed!

This house is starting to look less like a project and more like the pretty little home we knew was hiding underneath it all. 😍🏡

We’ve got a LOT more work to do, but the transformation is officially getting GOOD. 👏🏼

It’s official: Retro Skate is under new ownership as of today. 🛼🎉

We wanted to take a moment to introduce ourselves and share a little about the people behind the next chapter of Retro Skate. ✨

If you don’t know us, we’re Shane and Brittney Carpenter. We both grew up here in Fairmont, so this community has always been our home. 🏡💙

Skating has been a part of Shane’s life for as long as he can remember. 🛼 He began skating at age two and later competed in national speed skating events. 🏆 Interestingly, skating also played a significant role in the start of our relationship, as we both worked at a local rink when we first started dating. ❤️🛼

Over the past few years, Shane has been building his career in real estate, but when he found out Retro Skate was going to close, we decided to purchase it. 🏠➡️🛼 It felt like something we had to do, or there would never be another skating rink in Fairmont. This place has brought a lot of joy to our community, and we’re excited to help write the next chapter. ✨💙

Today, we’re parents of two boys, ages 10 and 5, who keep us busy cheering them on and coaching them in various sports. ⚽🏈📣 We know how important it is for kids to have a place where they can be kids, make friends, have fun, and create memories. ❤️

Our hope is to make the rink more than just a place to skate. 🛼 We want it to be a safe, fun, and welcoming place for kids and families in our community. 🤍✨

We’re truly thrilled about what’s coming up and deeply appreciate all the support we’ve already received. 💙 We have a lot of ideas, a lot of work ahead of us, and most importantly, a lot of excitement about bringing Retro Skate into its next chapter! 🎉🛼✨

We hope you’ll come skate and/or bounce with us, support us, and most of all, make some memories with us. 🛼💙✨

🏚️ This one was a little… creepy. 👀

Our latest purchase in Rivesville definitely had a haunted house meets fixer-upper kind of vibe during the first walkthrough. 😂

Was it a little rough? Yep.
Did it scare us away? Absolutely not. 💪

Here’s a look at the property as we first found it. These first-walkthrough pictures show just how much work this one is going to need — but that’s exactly what we love. 🔨✨

We’ve got big plans for this house, and we can already see the potential hiding underneath all the creepiness.

Progress Update 🏡

Getting this house completely cleaned out was a MONUMENTAL task… but we’re officially through that part, and now it’s time for the fun stuff! 👏

We’re ready to start transforming this place inside AND out. The plans include:

🪵 New flooring
🔧 Plumbing updates
⚡ Major electrical upgrades
🌳 Tree trimming & serious yard cleanup
💦 Professional house washing
…and plenty more along the way!

There’s a LOT of work ahead, but we’re excited to watch this one go from “where do we even start?” to something we can be proud of.

We’re excited to share our newest house flip right here in Morgantown, WV! Every home has a story, and this one is ready for a fresh start.

We’ve got a little cleaning, a little demo… okay, maybe a little more cleaning than we’d hoped. 😅 But that’s all part of the process.
