We checked every window in this house. Every single one had something. π
π΄ A sill coming apart under a probe
π΄ Finish peeling off the frame β that is our inspector calling it on camera
π΄ Sashes that needed working
π΄ Wood already rotting underneath
Here is the part buyers miss. One bad window is a repair you negotiate. A house full of them is a number that changes what the home is worth to you.
And peeling finish is not cosmetic. Paint and varnish are the only thing standing between weather and bare wood. Once that lets go, water gets behind it, and rot starts somewhere you cannot see until somebody puts a blade in it.
If you are walking a house this weekend, open a window. Then open another one. If they all feel the same way, that is your answer.
