🐻 Wildlife at Trail's End 🐻
Just another neighbor stopping by to check out the homestead this morning. Life in Northern Michigan means sharing the woods with some incredible wildlife. And every now and then, they step out for a visit. Thankfully, this handsome black bear was just passing through. 🌲💚

Some of the hives had a couple fresh hatches this week, and the young bees were out front performing orientation flights. It's always exciting to watch a new generation learning their way around the world. Next week we'll be back in the bee yard for another inspection to see how the colonies are progressing, do some hive manipulations to give queen room to lay more eggs, and add more boxes. 🐝🍯

ADHD kicked in while thinning and weeding flowers. Somehow, I saw branches & small trees that needed pruning. 😁😂 Every woman should have a battery powered chainsaw!!

Broody Betty took a little break today to grab a bite and a drink before heading back to her important job. 🐔🥚
She's on day 12, which means she's well past the halfway mark! Nestled beneath her are eggs in shades of blue, green, cream, and brown—each one patiently waiting for hatch day.
Now we wait, watch, and let nature do its thing. Just 9 more days to go! 🐣💛

Guests can't resist stopping to snap a picture of our stunning clematis on the arbor. With its vibrant blooms and peaceful garden setting, it's one of the best spots on the homestead. Nature has a way of creating the best backdrops, and this beauty certainly doesn't disappoint.

🐝 Just 1 little beehive...
That's how it starts.
Now? Four hives! Each one buzzing with thousands of tiny workers gathering nectar, making honey, and helping pollinate the homestead and beyond. What looks small from a distance is actually a thriving community hard at work every day.
Summer is humming along at Trail's End! 🌲🍯🐝

💙 A Bluebird Welcome
Guests at Trail's End never know who might greet them during their stay! We have a beautiful pair nesting in this stone house. He made a pretty fluffed up pose while the lupines and irises put on their summer display. 🌸🐦

Just a few months ago, steam was rolling from the roof of the Sugar Shack and maple sap was boiling. Now, it's surrounded by lush green trees, blooming flowers, and the quiet beauty of summer on the homestead.
Sharing a sample of our syrup with each guest is a way we show our appreciation for their booking. We have bottles for sale too!
