Several years ago, Jon and I blazed a few foot trails throughout our 10 acres. Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine that someday our young Guesthouse guests would be hopping on their bikes and riding those same trails! ❤️
There’s just something special about watching something we created simply because we enjoyed it become part of someone else’s adventure.
Little trails through the woods… making some pretty sweet vacation memories. 🌲🚲🍂
These are the little things that make hosting so rewarding and gives me joy. ❤️

Jon is hard at work staining the logs on the back of the house today... and yesterday... and the day before.... Every few years, those beautiful logs need a little love and protection from our Michigan weather—and it’s definitely a BIG job!
Lots of prep, lots of stain, lots of weeks, and lots of hours... but there’s just something special about seeing those logs come back to life. ❤️
Taking care of a homestead isn’t always the fun stuff you see in the pictures. Sometimes it’s simply maintaining what you’ve been blessed with—one log at a time. 🏡🍂

Dixie and Roxie may be small, but their homestead responsibilities are mighty: patrol the yard, inspect every interesting smells and make sure their people never work alone. 🐾🤎 And they BOTH like to be sure our pillows are safe. Peep those ears.

🍯 And the honey harvest continues! 🐝
Still jarring up all that beautiful golden goodness from our hives! After cutting, scraping, spinning 60 frames of honey, and straining, now comes the job of getting every last drop into jars. 🍯
A whole lot of work goes into one little jar of honey—but seeing it all bottled up sure makes it worth it. 💛

Does anyone else go through pantry, cupboards & closets every few years to purge stuff no longer used? Welp, I do and MOST of the time there are no regrets... Until I start making pies for the church pie contest and discovered that I only kept 1 glass pie plate. 🤪😂 The requirement is 2 pies! Off to the store we go...
