Mill & Roast Coffee Co. is the newest addition to the neighborhood, opened by the mother-father-daughter trio Hollie Richardson, Ryan Richardson, and Kyla Costa at 405 Pleasant Street, inside the historic Durfee-Union Mills complex.

Their focus is quality and community. They use locally roasted beans, baked goods made with freshly milled flour, and natural ingredients, with milk from Arruda's Dairy Farm in Tiverton and sourdough from Seven Stars Bakery. Stop in for a creative latte like the White Pumpkin or their signature Honey on the Rock, grab a green smoothie, fresh milled cookie, or a panini for lunch.

Just a short walk from home, and another reason downtown Fall River is the place to be.

Old-world character, elevated design. Meet The Merrill Building.

At 66 Troy Street, this four-story red-brick factory dates to the early 1870s, when it was home to the Union Belt Company, a local maker of oak-tanned leather belts and loom straps that kept Fall River's textile mills running. Following a historic rehabilitation completed in 2025, its upper floors now hold 36 studio and one-bedroom lofts, and in 2026 the building was listed on the National Register.

Inside, refinished original hardwood floors, soaring ceilings, and oversized loft windows preserve the building's hardworking character alongside stainless steel appliances, dark chestnut cabinetry with chrome fixtures, and in-unit laundry.
